BALINFERN ASSOCIATES has a principal focus on providing consulting services across the tertiary education, research, and business communities within the public and private sectors in Australia.

Between them, the partners, Peter Cook and Patrick Migliaccio, have over 40 years experience in these sectors. Balinfern Associates is a member of the Australasian Research Management Society. Peter Cook was a foundation member of the Society. Peter is also a member of the Consumer Network of the Cochrane Collaboration in Australia.

We are a small 'hands-on' consultancy, where you deal directly with the partners. We aim to remain small to ensure that we receive satisfaction from our work with clients, but more importantly, so that our clients can get to know and trust us and therefore receive personal attention every time!

Activities where Balinfern Associates can assist include, but are not limited to:

administrative and management review, including organisational restructuring;

strategic, operational and organisational planning;

project and research management;

assistance in accessing major research funding schemes e.g. within the NHMRC and ARC; developmental activities in raising research funding, including assistance in research grant drafting;

research and project contract design and negotiation; and

personnel recruitment.

Peter Cook, also provides personal support in the form of:

strictly confidential professional, career and personal/lifestyle coaching services

to individuals, including public and private sector managers and executives, career academics and researchers.

Patrick Migliaccio, has particular expertise in many areas of IT development, with special interest and expertise in the:

design, development, testing and implementation of multimedia interactive learning packages and systems.

Balinfern Associates is a partnership between Peter Cook and Patrick Migliaccio, and was established January 2000.
