The partners of Balinfern Associates are Peter Cook and Patrick Migliaccio.

Peter Cook has had a long association with Australian universities having worked in various capacities at James Cook University, Sydney University, and the University of New South Wales over the last 30 years.

He has the distinction of being the only person to have at various times been the Director of the research services and management areas of two of the so called Australian 'group of eight' research intensive universities, that is, the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales, having been headhunted from one to the other. He has an in-depth knowledge, experience and empathy with the broad spectrum of issues affecting the tertiary education sector and academic staff in Australia. He is well respected in the sector, and has valuable continuing contacts at all levels of the University sector in Australia and overseas.

His professional experiences working outside the university sector, including the National Standards Commission, NSW Cancer Council and the AIDS Trust of Australia, as laid out in his attached resume, give evidence of a varied background in having also worked in the regulatory, not-for-profit, medical and public health sectors.

Peter Cook has been a natural confidant of senior managers and executives, fellow workers, career academics, researchers, and other colleagues and peers for much of his professional life. As well, he has been a group leader and trained counsellor in a number of community-based 'support' organisations. He has, both through desire and necessity, successfully transformed his professional life on a number of occasions with very gratifying results for himself, and highly successful outcomes for the organisations for which he has worked. His resume, and its list of professional and personal referees will attest to this. Peter has now successfully turned these skills and associated extensive experience into helping individuals in both the public and private sectors, in for-profit and not-for-profit organisations, including small business people, middle and senior/executive level management, academics and researchers. This is done through Professional, Career and Personal/Lifestyle Coaching on a one-on-one basis, in person, over the phone, and via email.

Patrick Migliaccio, while working in the finance sector for many years, has had a long and in-depth experience of the use of emerging technologies and paradigms in the training of staff. This is a passion that he explored in undertaking his second degree, a Grad Dip in computer based learning at the University of Technology, Sydney. Patrick has innate skills in working with IT systems used in a 'learning' environment to put functionality and user focus to the forefront. He has particular experience in multimedia used as a learning tool.
